So, the milk thief struck again this morning! For the second time, one of the caregivers from the childcare at the gym came into my yoga class to ask if Morgan had any allergies. She had swiped someone else's sippy cup...again. Apparently she pulled a bunch of things off a shelf as well. This is her thing lately. First thing every morning she pulls every book off her shelves in the bonus room. Then she steps on them and slips all over. What a goof.
Another item from the childcare today...I went to pick her up when my class was over and she was sitting on the floor with some other girls. One of the caregivers said "she's playing with the big girls." Sure enough, There were about six girls who were 3 or 4 years old and Morgan. They were all gathered around a little doll bed playing together. One of the bigger girls stood behind Morgan and was patting her on the head. It was like she was their little mascot. She seemed very pleased with herself to be a part of their group. She was so involved in whatever they were doing, it took me longer than usual to get her attention. Hey, you...Mommy's here. What a difference from a few months ago though. I'm so happy she has a good time there, whoever she spends her time playing with.

Contentment
We've started a new series at our church on the "Big 7", the Seven Deadly Sins. This last Sunday was the second week of the series and I'm really enjoying how the pastor has designed it. He is sharing thoughts on not only the "sin" itself, but it's counterpart. Last week was Pride/Humility and this week was Greed/Generosity. This week he also added a second counterpart... Contentment. It hit close to home for me as I struggle with this a lot, I always have.
One thing our pastor said about contentment was key to me. He said "Nothing will make you happier than when you look beyond yourself." This applies to generosity as well as contentment. This is also similar to something David says to me a lot when I get into a bad mood. He'll say "what have you done for someone else today?" We can get so tied up with our "stuff", what we do and don't have, what others have. None of that matters. God calls us to give to others and be simply content with what He has given us...not always wanting more and more. When we focus on ourselves and "getting" what we want we will never be satisfied, we will just always want more. Giving will make us far happier than wanting more for ourselves.
Now if I could just remember that more often...as usual, I'm working on it.

Peas Please
We haven't done any "mealtime" posts lately and Morgan was just too funny last night. Usually she uses a plate, but she was doing her picky antics and playing with the plate so I took it away and put her peas and carrots on her tray. Here's how it went...
See the pile of peas to her right (your left)? She very carefully separated them from the other peas and placed them there.

Kisses
Morgan's friend Elijah and his Mama, Migdalia came over on Saturday night to watch the Shock game. They were playing in Boise and we planned on watching the game via streaming video on the computer. We had a great time! We barbecued some burgers and Morgan and Elijah played while we gathered around the computer monitor.
Elijah loved the "popping" toy. It is similar to a lawn mover toy he has at home. Morgan is holding her favorite book of the moment, "Moo Moo Brown Cow."

Bittersweet
My little baby is growing up! We went to the gym today as usual for a Monday. When we got to the childcare area I put her down for a minute to get something out of my bag. To my surprise she walked right over to the door and touched it like she wanted in. One of the "teachers" asked her if she wanted to go in and opened the door for her. She just walked right in and started playing...while I stood there and waved bye-bye. It was so cute and I was so proud of her for being so brave to just go on in by herself. Just think, two months ago she would cry hysterically when I brought her in there. When I went to pick her up she was playing nicely. She did seem happy to see me. I bet pretty soon she'll cry because she doesn't want to leave!
I've also been at a loss for lunch ideas lately. She's become more picky and some of the "usuals", like veggie burgers, are no longer appealing to her. Today, on a whim, I decided to make "pizzas" which were whole wheat English muffins with tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese. She loved it! I can't believe how much she ate...way more than usual. She had peas and carrots, pizza and peaches for dessert. Then she fell asleep quite contentedly for her nap with no blanket and lovey throwing this time.
I'd say a successful day so far all around! BTW, tomorrow I'll have a few cute pictures from the weekend!

Easter Sunday
Here are our sad little "Easter" pictures. It may have been Easter Sunday, but since I was still feeling really sick, we didn't do anything. You'll see in the photos that we are still in our PJs too. So, we will have to find another occasion for Morgan to wear her pretty dress. Luckily it was a dress that a friend gave us before she was born, so I didn't go out of my way to buy anything new this time.
Here are some pictures of Morgan with Daddy looking at the wonderful Easter Basket that Aunt Ali sent to her. Isn't it cute? It's a little duck. As soon as we pulled it out of the package Morgan said "duh!" She was especially fascinated with the stickers...until we saw her take one off her hand and put it right in her mouth. Yum!
Ooh...stickers!

Pretty puffy stickers
So, we've decided that next year we will go all out with the egg decorating, egg hunts, brunch, etc. She'll probably "get it" better then anyway. Hopefully next year will prove better weather too. It was cold and rainy. What can you do?
We hope everyone had a wonderful...and healthy Easter!

Little Swimmer
Morgan had her first swim lesson this morning at our gym. I've got a nasty cold, so Daddy David did all the swimming this time around. They had a great time!

Our Weekend and Beyond
We had an event-filled weekend here in Spokane. It started off with a Shock Game on Friday night. We all had a great time! The Shock won which made it that much better. We didn't know how the night would go since the games this season start at 7:00 pm. Morgan's bedtime is normally about 7:30 pm so we weren't sure how she would do. Well... we think Morgan will be a night owl since she went strong all night. No tantrums or tired fussiness all night. I think she was just fascinated by all the action, the other kids and everything else that was going on around her. Sadly I forgot my camera, but we'll be sure to have it next time. She even got to walk all over the field when the game was over. I kept having to keep her from getting too close to the big kids playing football. I think she wanted to join in!
Saturday we slept in (ahhh!), well, if you call Morgan waking at 7:30 am instead of 7:00 pm sleeping in. David offered to get up with her so I could sleep longer. Morgan certainly did better than I did Friday night. I was beat. There's another game on Saturday and David is taking a friend. I can't do that two weeks in a row. Maybe if I wasn't pregnant... . We had our neighbors over for dinner that night and went to church in the morning. Here is a shot of Morgan passed out for her nap after church. She didn't move an inch! This is very unusual. She's graduated to the "walkers" room at the church nursery and they had them playing with bubbles and doing all kinds of activities. When we picked her up she was all wet. I thought maybe they hadn't changed her diaper, but they said it was from the bubbles. David changed her clothes and diaper anyway (she was also wearing a Pull-up...odd). She had fun though. That's all that counts.

We have had some absolutely GLORIOUS weather here the past few days. It really does a lot to brighten every one's moods, especially after a cold, dark winter. Sunday evening we got out for a walk. There was a slight chill, but nice overall. Morgan went for a ride in her pink car! Thanks Grandma and Grandpa A!
Just leaving the house

On the Centennial Trail
David likes to push her really fast towards the camera. I managed to get a little smile.
We stopped at a bench along the way. Here are a few shots of Morgan and Daddy watching the water in the river.
Monday and Tuesday were even more glorious. Warmer and really Spring-like. We decided to go for another walk this evening and I though I'd even put Morgan in a sundress she'd never worn before. She looked so cute! Her hair has also gotten just long enough on the top for a bow. I'm surprised she hasn't pulled it off. Honestly I'm not sure she knows it's there.

Walking Everywhere!
Since I opened up more space for Morgan to walk upstairs she's been walking everywhere! She's still a little wobbly, but going longer distances and getting braver. Yesterday I brought her downstairs and went to make some cookies. She toddled herself all over the living and dining room. It was hilarious to see her just stroll on into the kitchen to see what was going on! A few times she was "playing" in her room by herself (I check on her every five minutes or so). I would call her name from the bonus room and she'd come walking on out of her room with a book or her Lovey (retrieved from the crib) in her hands. She really is figuring out how easy it is to carry things while walking instead of trying to drag them along while crawling. She's still working on standing from sitting down, but for now she needs to pull herself up on something (furniture, wall, etc.) to get herself going. It's really amazing the progress she's made in just about three days.
