36 Week "Biscuit" Appointment

I've probably been saying this all along, but I can't believe I'm 36 weeks!! I had an appointment with the Nurse Practitioner today. Everthing is looking good. I was surprised when she told me that when I was 36 weeks pregnant with Morgan I was 13 pounds heavier that I was today. Wow!! I think many things attributed to this, one being regular exercise and another big one is that I still have not shown signs of all the swelling I had last time. I hope it stays that way. It's been really hot here and she said that most of their patients have been pretty swollen up at this point.

I had my first "check" of this pregnancy (they do an exam to check your cervix for dilation and effacement). She said the baby's head is still high and everything's pretty closed up, but that's fine for this point. If I'm that way at 39 or 40 weeks that will be an issue, but I expect there will be some changes soon.

Only a month to go! We can't wait to meet our little one. We have some family in town this weekend so I won't be posting much, but I'll do my best to get some pictures for some posts for next week.

Hoarder

Check out Morgan with her pile of "goodies." She's taken to piling up her teddy bears, blankets and other toys and then just simply sitting on them. We don't know what this is about, but it sure is amusing to watch.

Recall

Morgan's crib was recalled a while ago. Two weekends ago we finally disassembled it so we could send in the hardware to get a voucher for a new one. It was recalled due to the possibility that the slats could break and babies could get their head and/or limbs stuck. Well Morgan's really been pounding on the crib with her feet lately, so we decided that it couldn't wait any longer. She's currently sleeping in her play yard. Not so much space, but she's being a trooper. Once we get a new crib she'll sleep in it a while until the new baby is ready for it. Possibly around the holidays...then it will be on to a toddler bed. It's all going so fast!!!

Back Online

So sorry we've been MIA for a while. Our computer died. Yes, died. At first we thought it was a virus. There is still a chance that it was...but the computer geeks (the Spokane Computer Geeks, to be exact) said that it more likely died of "old age." Hmmm. I guess I'm someone that expects things to last forever because it never crossed my mind that this could happen. We've had the computer for about 4.5 years and now everyone we talk to say that this is about average or longer for a computer to last. Who knew?!

She really did it

David told me it would happen...I didn't believe him. Morgan is now 19 months old and it had not happened yet.

Friday night she pooped in the bathtub.

Crib Games

Morgan has come up with several "games" she likes to play when resisting falling asleep for naps or bedtime.

Game #1 - The Lovey Toss
This one's been going on for a while. She sleeps with her bunny lovey and a blanket. Suddenly she discovered if she tossed them over the side of the crib we would come in and give them back to her. I played along for a while because she fell asleep so much easier with her lovey. This game escalated when Grandma and Grandpa visited because Grandpa was having a little too much fun with her when he gave the lovey and blankie back. Sorry Dad, we love how much you love her...but it got out of hand. So when we were having to go in the room 4-5 times before she went to sleep I had to put my foot down. We are now on what we call a "zero tolerance" policy and if she tosses her toys, she does not get them back. The first few times we had to do this were rough, but she now eventually falls asleep without them. Once she is asleep we gently put them next to her so when she wakes up during the night she falls right back asleep. Sometimes she actually holds onto them so we don't have to go in and retreive them at all.

Game #2 - Bouncy Bed
Just discovered this one today. I put her down for her nap and when I checked in on the monitor a bit later she was jumping up and down "look Mom, no hands" style in the middle of the crib. Then she would fall forward onto her lovey and blanket and laugh. When she stands in the crib you can only see her from about the chest down on the monitor screen. It was just too funny to watch! Eventually she settled herself down and went to sleep.

Game #3 - Laps
In this game she sort of "bounces" from one end of the crib to the other, sort of like you'd imagine a boxer in the ring. Similar to game #2 eventually she gets tired out and plops herself down to go to sleep.

Backyard Water Baby

We've pulled out the colorful water toy that we bought last year. If you remember my post from the first (and only) time we used it last year see here. This was when Morgan was about 7 months old. We had not landscaped the backyard yet, so we set it up in the front yard. The water was COLD and Morgan mostly sat there and cried. This time the water was a bit warmer, but not too much. She still prefers to sit and play instead of running around on it, but she seems content so we gave her some bath toys and she was happy as a "clam."
