I've probably been saying this all along, but I can't believe I'm 36 weeks!! I had an appointment with the Nurse Practitioner today. Everthing is looking good. I was surprised when she told me that when I was 36 weeks pregnant with Morgan I was 13 pounds heavier that I was today. Wow!! I think many things attributed to this, one being regular exercise and another big one is that I still have not shown signs of all the swelling I had last time. I hope it stays that way. It's been really hot here and she said that most of their patients have been pretty swollen up at this point.
I had my first "check" of this pregnancy (they do an exam to check your cervix for dilation and effacement). She said the baby's head is still high and everything's pretty closed up, but that's fine for this point. If I'm that way at 39 or 40 weeks that will be an issue, but I expect there will be some changes soon.
Only a month to go! We can't wait to meet our little one. We have some family in town this weekend so I won't be posting much, but I'll do my best to get some pictures for some posts for next week.

Recall
Morgan's crib was recalled a while ago. Two weekends ago we finally disassembled it so we could send in the hardware to get a voucher for a new one. It was recalled due to the possibility that the slats could break and babies could get their head and/or limbs stuck. Well Morgan's really been pounding on the crib with her feet lately, so we decided that it couldn't wait any longer. She's currently sleeping in her play yard. Not so much space, but she's being a trooper. Once we get a new crib she'll sleep in it a while until the new baby is ready for it. Possibly around the holidays...then it will be on to a toddler bed. It's all going so fast!!!

Back Online
So sorry we've been MIA for a while. Our computer died. Yes, died. At first we thought it was a virus. There is still a chance that it was...but the computer geeks (the Spokane Computer Geeks, to be exact) said that it more likely died of "old age." Hmmm. I guess I'm someone that expects things to last forever because it never crossed my mind that this could happen. We've had the computer for about 4.5 years and now everyone we talk to say that this is about average or longer for a computer to last. Who knew?!
I promise to have more Morgan (and Biscuit) posts soon!

She really did it
David told me it would happen...I didn't believe him. Morgan is now 19 months old and it had not happened yet.
Friday night she pooped in the bathtub.
Ick.

Crib Games
Morgan has come up with several "games" she likes to play when resisting falling asleep for naps or bedtime.
Game #1 - The Lovey Toss
This one's been going on for a while. She sleeps with her bunny lovey and a blanket. Suddenly she discovered if she tossed them over the side of the crib we would come in and give them back to her. I played along for a while because she fell asleep so much easier with her lovey. This game escalated when Grandma and Grandpa visited because Grandpa was having a little too much fun with her when he gave the lovey and blankie back. Sorry Dad, we love how much you love her...but it got out of hand. So when we were having to go in the room 4-5 times before she went to sleep I had to put my foot down. We are now on what we call a "zero tolerance" policy and if she tosses her toys, she does not get them back. The first few times we had to do this were rough, but she now eventually falls asleep without them. Once she is asleep we gently put them next to her so when she wakes up during the night she falls right back asleep. Sometimes she actually holds onto them so we don't have to go in and retreive them at all.
Game #2 - Bouncy Bed
Just discovered this one today. I put her down for her nap and when I checked in on the monitor a bit later she was jumping up and down "look Mom, no hands" style in the middle of the crib. Then she would fall forward onto her lovey and blanket and laugh. When she stands in the crib you can only see her from about the chest down on the monitor screen. It was just too funny to watch! Eventually she settled herself down and went to sleep.
Game #3 - Laps
In this game she sort of "bounces" from one end of the crib to the other, sort of like you'd imagine a boxer in the ring. Similar to game #2 eventually she gets tired out and plops herself down to go to sleep.

Backyard Water Baby
We've pulled out the colorful water toy that we bought last year. If you remember my post from the first (and only) time we used it last year see here. This was when Morgan was about 7 months old. We had not landscaped the backyard yet, so we set it up in the front yard. The water was COLD and Morgan mostly sat there and cried. This time the water was a bit warmer, but not too much. She still prefers to sit and play instead of running around on it, but she seems content so we gave her some bath toys and she was happy as a "clam."

Water Baby
We had a lovely 4th of July here in Spokane. David had been working hard on cleaning out our garage the day before, so we spent the morning organizing what we had left. I was so happy about this as we'd been trying for months to get this task done. Yay!
We spent the late day and evening on Liberty Lake at some friends' home who have access to a nice private beach. We had a wonderful BBQ dinner and the weather was great. Not too hot and the water was pretty warm too. It was tough to corral Morgan because every time we let her off on her own she headed off for the water. I think we have a water baby on our hands. David took her swimming once which she loved. Then later in the evening as it was (finally) turning dark, David took her back down to the water. I hung out talking with some people on the grassy area and each time I'd look down to the beach I'd see David sitting on a beach chair talking with a friend...no Morgan in sight. Hmmm. I headed over and this is what I found:

Check out this water baby! She is just sitting and letting the water wash over her. Note, she is picking up sand with her right hand. Soon she was scooping it up with both hands!
See Mama and Dada, this is FUN!
I am the Queen of Liberty Lake!

THIS is what led to...
...THIS. Out girl doesn't mind getting dirty. She also had sand on top of her head too.
I think a stroll down the beach sounds nice
Off she goes!
It's nice to walk with Daddy too
Hi friend!
Mama, watch me play with the truck!
I think her "friend" was a little freaked out though. She doesn't hesitate when she wants to play with something or someone, but since she's not very verbal I think the older kids get a little nervous because they don't know what she's going to do. She sure has a good time though!
The fireworks started around 10:15 pm and at first Morgan was just awed watching them. Then around the middle she started clapping and then when they were over she cried a little. She wasn't scared at all by the noise though. Right after that we bundled her up in her jammies and headed home. Within about 10 minutes of putting her in her bed, she was asleep. All in all we had a great day!

32 Week Dr. Appointment
I can't believe it's already 32 weeks and my last appointment was at 28 weeks. It's funny, some days seem like they're going slowly, but most of the time it seems like this pregnancy is going really fast.
My appointment went well today. I was most excited to hear that this baby Biscuit is currently head down and the Dr. thinks she'll stay that way. Yay! We did schedule a "growth" ultrasound in two weeks. We asked for this mostly because our "anatomy" ultrasound was done very early at 16 weeks and we want another confirmation on gender as well as to be sure everything still looks OK. I also want to see how big she is and especially how big her head is. Morgan has a BIG head and I think most of you know what happened there. Ouch!
So, for the next month I have appointments every two weeks, at 34 weeks and 36 weeks...then from there I will have appointments every week until I go into labor. I think the time is going to pass really quickly.
As I thought, I'm starting to have a little more overall discomfort. This is the same as what happened with Morgan. I'm moving just a little more slowly, especially while carrying my 26 lb toddler around. Sleeping is getting more challenging with a bit of increased congestion and the return of some rib pain. I'm still able to keep up with my yoga classes and working out at the gym though. I'm confident I'm going to be stronger this time come delivery. That keeps me motivated to not be a couch potato. I am also very grateful that I am able to take advantage of Morgan's nap times for a nap of my own. This feels like such a luxury. I keep telling myself, enjoy it now...the sleepless nights are right around the corner! I can't wait to meet this baby though. It will make it all worth it.
